MSU Wins 42-40 After Double OT vs. Boston College
The Michigan State Spartans had a thriller comeback on Saturday, defeating Boston College 42-40 in double overtime at Spartan Stadium.
Halftime Deficit to Double OT Comeback
It looked a little concerning at halftime, as the Spartans trailed Boston College 21-14. Quarterback Dylan Lonergan found Reed Harris for a late second quarter touchdown. Michigan State answered in the third quarter when Aidan Chiles connected with Nick Marsh on a 41-yard scoring strike to tie the game at 21.
Both teams traded field goals, sending the game to the fourth quarter knotted at 24-24.
Game-Winning Two-Point Conversion
The Spartans grabbed a 27-24 lead after a defensive stop and a field goal, but Boston College responded with a drive in the closing seconds, tying the game at 27-27 and forcing overtime.

In the first overtime, Chiles hit Jay Cyne for a touchdown, but the Eagles quickly matched it. That set the stage for double overtime. Boston College had scored first, but missed their two-point attempt, leaving the door open for Michigan State.
The Spartans with Aidan Chiles, and Omari Kelly scored a touchdown, converting the decisive two-point pass to secure a 42-40 victory.
What This Win Means for MSU
The win pushes the Michigan State Spartans to a 2-0 under head coach Jonathan Smith. It also is a key moment for the program, showing the ability to rally the team, and execute under pressure. It also allowed the Spartans to close out an FBS opponent late, which is something we've struggled with in recent years.
The second game victory is great to see for our Spartans, as we hadn't known much of the team until the season began.
