Report: Lions Give WR St. Brown Contract Extension

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting on Wednesday that the Detroit Lions have given star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown a big contract extension.

St. Brown (pictured above) is entering the final year of his rookie deal (where he'll be paid $3.36 million, according to spotrac.com).  He would've become an unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season before Wednesday's agreement.  He is now signed through the 2028 season.

St. Brown was the Lions 4th round draft pick in 2021 (112th pick overall) out of the University of Southern California.  And he quickly became one of the top players on the team.

In 2023, Amon-Ra caught 119 passes for 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns.  He has made the NFC Pro Bowl team the last two years running.

Re-signing St. Brown was a top priority for the Lions this off-season.  The extension comes one day before the NFL Draft, which is in Detroit this week.  The Lions currently have seven picks in this weekend's Draft.

With St. Brown in the fold for the next five years, the team can now turn their attention to giving starting quarterback Jared Goff a contract extension.  Goff, like St. Brown, is entering the last year of his current contract.  He is in line to get a contract that will pay him amongst the top-paid QB's in the NFL.
