Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that MSU men's basketball coach Tom Izzo and deputy athletic director Jen Smith will serve as interim AD's until a permanent AD is named.
Haller, who's 54 years old, is a Lansing native (Sexton HS grad) and a former MSU football player. Haller also played in the National Football League as a defensive back for three seasons (1992, 1993, 1995) after graduating from MSU. He was also a police officer at MSU's Department of Police and Public Safety after his NFL career for more than a decade.
He was named as full-time athletic director 3 1/2 years ago, taking over for then-interim AD Bill Beekman.
Solari reports that Haller's contract runs through September 1st, 2026. Buyout negotiations are ongoing according to the report.
According to the release, MSU will use the executive search firm TurnkeyZRG to help with the AD search.
