Lansing-Area H.S. Football Top 10 Poll (After Week 2)
It's time, once again, for the annual selection of the top 10 teams in the Lansing area in high school football.
Some big performances have peppered the early part of the season. DeWitt QB Elliott Larner has been the best player in the area so far. He has accounted for 13 touchdowns for the high-powered offense in the first two weeks. Everett QB Nizjai Davidson has been terrific as well for the 2-0 Vikings. And Fowler QB Jacob Halfmann has been great for the 2-0 Eagles.
There are a total of 10 2-0 teams after two weeks (not counting the two 8-man teams, Morrice and Portland St. Patrick who are both 2-0. Only 2-0 Leslie was left out this week and they were the first team left out.
The big win of the week was NOT DeWitt's 55-21 victory over Mason. It was Okemos' 35-0 victory over Clio. Why? Because it broke the Wolves 41-game losing streak, which was the longest active losing streak in the state of Michigan. Congratulations to head coach Efe Scott-Emaukpour and all the players on the victory!
CAAC Blue as well as CAAC Red play begins this week (CAAC White and CMAC play began last week). Some of the top games include: Grand Ledge at East Lansing, DeWitt at Waverly, Okemos at Everett, Mason at Williamston, Portland at Ionia, Charlotte at Lansing Catholic, Laingsburg at P-W, and Leslie is at Vandercook Lake.
And with this being the very first poll of the season. I need to remind you that if you don't see your team in the top 10 this week, RELAX!!!!! As Dennis Miller once said: It's only my opinion, and I could be wrong.
Ok, on with the inaugural poll of the 2024 season.
