Run with Your Dog at this Upcoming Grand Rapids Race
Looking to get active with your pup? There's a dog-friendly race coming up in Grand Rapids!
Grand Rapids' K9K
The K9K is this Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Mich. Back for the ninth year, the family-friendly event is organized by the family and friends of Officer Andrew Rusticus, who passed away near his home in 2012 while training for an open K9 position with GRPD.
The race honors Andy's memory and raises money for worthy causes.
There is a 9K course and a 3K course (walkers are welcome) and--because it's the K9K--dogs can accompany their human race partners! While dogs are welcome, you are free to race without a canine companion too!
The race includes a K9 demonstration presented by the Grand Rapids Police Department. There will also be police cars and fire trucks on site.
Organizers say,
For those that have not joined us previously, we try to take ourselves seriously, but not too serious. We host two events - a 3k run / walk and a 9k run. Both of them are awesome and we have fun with them... We promise that we will do everything we can to make your time worthwhile and memorable. The park is beautiful, the events can be competitive, the shirts are awesome, and we have great food to enjoy afterwards.
